i'm in tosa for the holiday. it's weird for me to think i'm here for christmas, because we don't do anything remotely christian over the next few days. so i try to stick to the neutral term holiday.
i made my mom a pair of blue mittens and a froofy scarf. i made my dad a pillow that is actually a failed attempt at a scarf. my sister kept calling me and demanding specific things for a gift, so i got mad about it and just folded a twenty-dollar bill up like a butterfly. i felt guilty about that, so i added some pinky-winky nail polish.
i already gave brian his gift, pajamas. that cost fifty bucks, for two sets of pjs which were already half off at tjmaxx. but i also have some stuff backed up that i could give him. i ordered this kleenex box cover that looks like one of those giant stone heads - the kleenex comes out of its nose. and i ordered a bunch of aldous huxley books, a couple of which were out of print and hard to find.
i'm pleased because on dec. 30, weather.com predicts 45 degree weather. that means no snow, but that's a hell of a lot better than the 7 degrees we enjoyed yesterday.
i'm still debated whether or not to do the surprise proposal on the 30th. it would be romantic because it's the same day we had all that fun in the snow 4 years ago, but it wjould also be romantic at a different time of the year. in the fall there would be pretty leaves, and in the spring everything would be really lush and overgrown.
and, even though it will be warm enough, it won't be very beautiful without the snow. so i'm torn.
this is so dorky, i can't believe i'm doing this. and i don't think he really cares about romantic stuff. but, he should. brian has this philosophical way of stripping life off all meaning and mysticism. i feel it is my job to balance this dreariness. plus, he needs a lesson in how to romance me.
