life has been pretty good lately. i am teaching a summer school course that is just 3 weeks long.
i get to teach on campus, in a room where i've taken classes before! my students are fantastic, since this is a scholarship program for high schoolers (not a flunkie program).
it's an autobiographical writing course, which is always a fun topic. today i gave every kid their favorite candy from childhood. then i led them through a visualization of their childhood home and play areas. then they drew bird's eye view maps of their childhood world.
so that was fun! tomorrow we're reading an excerpt from Persepolis. the excerpt refers to 80's music, clothes, and politics. i'm bringing my jean jacket as a prop, and some micheal jackson and kim wilde to set the mood.
