2004-08-01 - 3:22 p.m. modest mouse was mm-kay. they played in such a huge venue that the show couldnt help but be somewhat generic. although i saw fugazi in a huge venue a few years ago, and they really pulled it off well. maybe i just wasnt excited enough about it. maybe we should have stood down closer, instead of up in the balcony. i dont know. i mean it was okay. my knee was killing me the whole time. the sound wasnt that great. and they played like every song off their new album, which is really their weakest work. maybe i just dont get excited anymore. i cant remember the last time i was really, authentically excited about something. oh, i remember now...i was real excited about some freshly baked cookies a few weeks ago. i felt bad because lara was so excited and happy about the show, so i had to fake it. i guess it just wasnt a "concert experience." it wouldve been just as well to pull 2000 sweaty kids together and play the album over the stereo system. well, the part where isaac played guitar with his teeth was kinda cool. i wanted to be overwhelmed...to be taken over by the music. to hear new things, or hear the same old songs in new ways. sweep the leg johnny was the best concert experience i ever had, all four times i saw them. dismemberment plan does a good job too. i think its better to see a band in concert that you dont even know. sonic youth was so much better, maybe because theyre a better live band, but also maybe because i dont know all their songs that well. maybe im just sick of being in a rut. listening to the same songs. doing the same things everyday. its 3:30 on a sunday, and i "just dont know what to do with myself." i cant even think of my own line! i watched platoon with brian, even though i hate war movies. then i did most of the dishes, using cold water because its so freakin hot in our apartment (i figure the antibacterial soap cancelled out the grossness of using cold water). then i checked my email, played snood, wrote in my online diary.... RRRRRRRRRRRRUUUUTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT
